86 வயதான ஒரு பெண் மெதுவாக வளர்ந்து, இடது மூன்றாவது கால் விரலில் வலி இல்லாத, மென்மையான மேற்பரப்புடைய கட்டி (mass) கொண்டிருந்தார், அளவு சுமார் 1.0 × 0.5 × 0.5 செ.மீ. அறுவை சிகிச்சை மூலம் கட்டி அகற்றப்பட்டது. நுண்ணோக்கி பரிசோதனையில், கயிறு போன்ற அல்லது சுழலான வடிவமைப்பைக் கொண்ட ஸ்டோரிஃபார்ம் டெர்மல் டியூமர் (rope‑like or whorled configuration) காணப்பட்டது; இது அசாதாரணம் (atypia) அல்லது மைட்டோசிஸ் (mitoses) இல்லாத சுழல் செல்கள் (spindle cells) கொண்டது. இது ஒரு பெரியூங்குவல் ஃபைப்ரோமா (Periungual fibroma), நன்மைமிக்க மெசென்கைமல் டியூமர் (benign mesenchymal tumor) ஆகும்.
An 86-year-old woman presented with a slowly growing, painless, smoothsurfaced mass on the left third toe, measuring ca. 1.0 × 0.5 × 0.5 cm). The mass was surgically resected. Histological examination revealed a storiform dermal tumor (i.e., one with a rope-like or whorled configuration) consisting of spindle cells without atypia or mitoses. This a periungual fibroma, a benign mesenchymal tumor
